About the Honorees
Eddie Basha has been an active supporter of ARPA and rail, and published a pro commuter rail editorial in several of the Tribune newspapers. Basha also actively supported the recent “Keep Phoenix Moving” transit campaign.
Representative Steffey introduced an “Arizona Rail Authority” bill in 1994. Although the bill was defeated, she has maintained her commitment to rail. She was instrumental in the creation of the 1994 Arizona Rail Task Force which, in turn, influenced the creation of the current Phoenix-Tucson High Speed Rail Task Force.
